Q.  When do I seek counseling (mental health therapy)?

A. Whenever you feel as though your thoughts, emotions, and feelings seem to impair your life in various areas such as school, social, family, work, etc., and it leads to excessive depressive symptoms, anxiety, and self-harming thoughts.

Q. What should I expect from counseling?

A. You can expect to have the therapist listen to your story, feel heard, and have a healthy dialogue. You can expect to create goals and outcomes you want/desire from the therapeutic work. Sometimes expect to be challenged and asked to ponder on questions and situations for the next appointment. The frequency and duration depend on the individual's therapeutic work and what the goals are. Initially, it is recommended to have weekly sessions for at least 4 sessions, and then depending on the progress, the frequency can adjust to every two weeks. Sessions are usually 50 minutes unless the client requests for 90-minute sessions.

Q. How do I choose a counselor (therapist) that is right for me?

A. The initial free 30 minutes consultations that most therapists offer is a great opportunity for both the client and the therapist to see if they connect. This therapeutic alliance (connection/trust) is a very important part of the therapeutic work.

Q. Do you take insurance?

A. Currently, I am an out-of-network provider; private-pay. Once you have made your payment to me, you will be given a superbill (an invoice) to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We can talk more during the initial consultation. I am in-network with First Choice Health.

Q. Do you have a sliding fee scale?

A. Yes, I do have sliding scale rates. They depend on your annual income. This can be further discussed during the initial consultation.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

           A. If you are unable to attend the session, please cancel/or reschedule at least 48 hours in advance, or you will             

           be charged for the full session rate.

Q. Are the sessions in-person or online?

A.  Due to COVID19, we are currently providing all services online via a confidential telehealth platform. This is to ensure the safety of our community and our staff. We are hoping to resume in-person sessions as soon as state regulations are lifted. Schedule a Free Consultation
